Dating back to February 7, is another classroom discussion which has had a great impact on me. The topic of the discussion, deception. To deceive, meaning to mislead by intentionally misrepresenting. We are all misleaded in one way or another, we are blinded by the half truths, and observed to be tricked because of our naive nature. By reacting to one’s deception, one is conforming to the illusions to which are false.
“One who deceives will always find those who allow themselves to be deceived.” I interpreted this quote given in class to represent the meaning that it is easy to deceive people if one is constantly surrounded by people who are gullible. The second quote given to interpretation was, “The discovery of truth is prevented more effectvely, not by the false appearance things present and which mislead into error, not directly by weakness of the reasoning powers, but by preconceived option by prejudice.” This quote stuck with me because the meaning was without falsehood, it represents the idea that things in life are often not promoted to find the truth in things, and the truth is often not found because of one’s natural ability to cover the truth up. We are all, and have been deceived in one way or another, it is in our nature. However it is in one’s best interest to seek for the truth, to hide from the constant misrepresentations throughout the world, and to desire to be distracted by the constant persuasion to follow trickery.
