Course Reflection
As expressed throughout the many lectures, we as a class were encouraged to express our ideas. With this constant encouragement, we slowly became more knowledgable on each topic discussed. The knowledge not only came from our professor, however from my classmates as well. We are created differently for a reason, and that reason being to express the different ideas to which we possess. By elaborating on each topic of each lecture, not only myself but others as well became more involved in the classroom discussion. Not all, but most classrooms discussions have greatly impacted my overall outlook on life.
Over the course of the past semester, my abilities as a writer, as well as my critical thinking while analyzing literature, have improved significantly throughout the Composition and Literature course. With the help of the constant studying of different types of literature, including poetry, short stories, as well as plays, I have been taught how to analyze a piece of writing. From studying different pieces of literature, I have come to the conclusion that every piece of writing has a different meaning, as well as that no two authors use the same techniques, or literary devices.
Looking back on my spring semester, I think that my writing has improved due to my now ability to pick and choose the right words I use, in order to express my ideas clearly. As a thinker, I am now comfortable with expressing different literary devices throughout each piece, due to the constant analyzing of different works of literature. Also I am now able to come up with various meanings which the authors wished to convey. As a poet, I have become more aware of the words I use to convey certain ideas. Along with the poetry section of our semester, I have become much more confident in expressing my ideas not only on paper but by speaking what comes to mind. In the past, poetry was my escape, although I did not share my writing with others. In the past poetry allowed me to express my thoughts so none other than me will understand the emotions I felt. However with the constant support of my writing from my peers, I am now able to express my writing to others. I truly believe I have grown as a writer, a thinker, a poet, as well as a speaker throughout the course of this semester.
